I specialize in evaluating book-length literary and genre fiction, creative non-fiction, and screenplays. My goal is to preserve your voice, your talent, and your intentions, while honing your manuscript for the marketplace. Our work together begins with a free preliminary telephone or email chat, so that we can get to know each other and establish what you're looking for in a critique.  This initial consultation will give you an introduction to the process of working with me, and help me tailor the evaluation to meet your specific needs. 

After I receive your manuscript, I'll read it thoroughly to analyze its strength and appeal, as well as any rough spots that might detract from the overall success of the work. Critiques run to several typed pages, and will include page-specific notes that are designed to make it easy for you to revise the work. My usual turnaround time for finishing a written critique is one to two weeks.

For novelists, the critique will address issues with plot, character development, setting, continuity, pace, suspense, structure and emotional impact. For non-fiction projects, the critique covers content, structure, pacing, clarity, and level of interest for the reader. All critiques will give you an assessment of the marketability of your project, based on the same guidelines used by the publishers I’ve worked for, and show you how to create a more saleable manuscript.
